What it does

Applies one impulse response, or inverse filter, to many WAV files at once with exact linear FFT convolution. Use it to turn recorded sweeps into impulse responses, or to render audio through a measured room, loudspeaker or reverb.

Exact, linear convolution

Computed with FFTs and zero-padding, so there is no circular wrap-around and nothing is truncated.

Many files, one pass

Add as many recordings as you like and process them all with a single impulse response.

Levels you control

Keep the relative level between files, or normalize each one on its own.

A manual workflow with your own gear

  1. Generate

LogSweepGenerator creates the sweep and its inverse filter as WAV files.

  2. Play and record

Play the sweep and record the result with your own DAW, interface or portable recorder.

  3. Convolve

Convolver combines the recording with the inverse filter and gives you the impulse response.

Use cases

Room impulse responses

Play the sweep in a room, record it with a measurement microphone in your DAW, and convolve the recording with the inverse filter. The result is the room's impulse response, ready for acoustic analysis or a convolution reverb.

Batch processing

Convolve many takes or microphone positions in one pass. With “Maintain relative level between files” on, the level differences between positions are preserved.

Capturing hardware for convolution

Guitar cabinets, loudspeakers, spring and plate reverbs and other gear, turned into impulse responses for convolution plugins.

Auralization and sound design

Render dry audio through a measured room, loudspeaker or reverb impulse response to hear how it would sound there.

Measuring on location with a portable recorder

Play the sweep WAV from any player and record it on a field recorder. No laptop is needed at the measurement point; process the files later.
